Samuel Kendal Rose, 72, of Marble died Thursday, July 29, 2010 at his residence. He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. Kendal had served in the United States Air Force. In his early life, he had worked in tunnel construction and later worked for Magnavox and Baker Furniture, retiring after 33 years. Kendal was a member and deacon of the Vengeance Creek Baptist Church.
He was the son of the late Sam Grady and Leona Crain Rose.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Beatrice Lunsford Rose; two daughters, Vickie Rose Wyper and husband, Donald Wyper of Devine, TX and Vivian Rose Hayes and husband, Douglas Hayes of North Wilkesboro, NC; two sons, Bruce M. Rose and wife, Pam Rose of Marble and Lyle D. Rose of Graham, NC; two sisters, Mescal Johnson and husband, Rev. Randy Johnson of Marble and Marilyn McFadden and husband, Gerald McFadden of Homedale, ID; two brothers, Kenneth Rose and wife, Mavis Rose and Kelland Rose all of Marble; and four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Vengeance Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Derrick Palmer, Randy Johnson, and Fred Lunsford officiating. Interment was in Vengeance Creek Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Bruce, Lyle, and Brian Rose, Jim Vaught, Larry Hardin, and Justin Mintz.
The family received friends from 1-2:45 Saturday afternoon at the Vengeance Creek Baptist Church prior to the services.
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Samuel Kendal Rose to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.
