I had the privilege of a lifetime to be taught by a gentle giant with a stern demeanor but oh such a faithful unapologetic man of God! I am the man I am today because in part to Coach Cottrell! I can truly say that it was an honor to know him and his lovely wife Mrs Kathy! We loved him for his wisdom, desire to be great but always in the right way! I know that he has a group 5 up in Heaven working on the “motion” offense! But most of all it will be man to man on defense and I am sure he is sitting with Jesus talking about life! I love you coach and you will never be forgotten! See you in “Glory” in Christ! All honor is yours!

I am Kevin Young. I was the first player that signed to play at WCU that he chose and was not inherited. That was was in 1978. He taught us many lessons. Lessons of how to be and how not to be. My condolences to the family as you mourn your loss.
