Stanley Warth Jr., 93, of Hiawassee, Georgia, formerly of Hayesville, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 in a Towns County, Georgia care facility. He was a native of Atlanta, Georgia and lived in Hayesville since 1985. He was a 1944 graduate of Landon High School in Jacksonville, Florida and was a 1948 graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in economics. Stanley was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Navy. He was employed with Southern Bell for 35 years, retiring in 1985. Stanley was a member of the American Legion Post 532 in Hayesville and the Hayesville First United Methodist Church.

 

He was the son of the late Stanley and Laura Hobbs Warth. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Warth; and a half-brother, Hal Warth.

 

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Martha Neal Haigler Warth; a daughter, Sherry Warth McHenry and husband, David of Hayesville; four grandchildren, Katie McHenry Crouch, Jennifer McHenry Julian, Anne Michele Warth DiPietro, and Jared Warth; and a great grandson, Slade DiPietro.

 

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Hatherly officiating. The inurnment was in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Hayesville VFW Post 6812, Hayesville American Legion Post 532, and Murphy American Legion Post 96.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Stanley Warth Jr. to the Hayesville First United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 85, Hayesville, NC 28904 or the American Legion Post 532 Honor Guard Fund, PO Box 22, Hayesville, NC 28904.
