Thomas W. Rennick Jr., 77, of Hanover, Pennsylvania passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center after an extended battle with cancer.
Tom was a native of Brinkley, Arkansas and received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Memphis State University in 1965 and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a manufacturing engineer for AMP, Incorporated, and a Master Mason of Shrewsbury Lodge #423. Retiring to Andrews, North Carolina in 1998, he owned Andrews Taxi Service and Rennick’s Gun Shop. He was on the Andrews Fire Department from 1999-2003. Tom enjoyed whitewater rafting and canoeing, collecting guns and knives, and was a mesmerizing storyteller. He loved his family and believed a dog was the best friend anyone could have.
He was the son of the late Thomas W. Rennick Sr. and Laura Carolyn Fite of Brinkley, Arkansas and was preceded in death by son, John Bateman Rennick of Kodiak, Alaska.
Surviving are his wife, Jana Jones Rennick; daughter, Laura Marie Rennick of Hanover, Pennsylvania; son, Thomas Mark Rennick and wife, Georgia of Spring, Texas; sister, Polly Rennick Elson of Oro Valley, Arizona; nephew, Mike Tackett of Rio Rico, Arizona; three grandchildren, Jacob Rennick, Jessica Rennick and Alex Rennick; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Eric Byrd officiating. The interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Andrew Jones II, Todd McClure, Alex Rennick, Paul Earwood, Steedley Parker, Ray Frazier, and Jacob Rennick. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Jones II, Andrew Jones, and Anthony Jones.
The family received friends from 2-3:45 Friday afternoon at Ivie Funeral Home Andrews prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Thomas W. Rennick Jr. to the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 729, Andrews, NC 28901.
