Gweneth Bryson, 83, of Hayesville passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at her residence. A native of Graham County, she had been living in Clay County for several years. Gweneth was a graduate of Western Carolina University, receiving a Master’s teaching degree. She was a teacher with Cherokee and Cabarrus Counties School Systems, retiring with more than 30 years of employment. She was a member of the Truett Memorial First Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late George Henry and Edna Mae Sawyer Garland.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Ray Bryson; a daughter, Sheila Shope of Memphis, Tennessee; and a sister, Virginia Ford of Robbinsville.
