Carol Ann Woodrum, 81, of Hayesville passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in a Charlotte, North Carolina hospital. She was a native of Kipton, Ohio and had moved to Clay County in 1989. Carol had worked in the banking industry for many years. She had been active with the Girl Scouts. Carol was a member of the Truett Memorial First Baptist Church, where she dedicated much of her life. Carol was a devoted mother and she loved her grandchildren deeply. Carol enjoyed sewing, knitting, and alterations.

 

She was the daughter of the late Harold William and Vera Eloise Perkins Geist and the wife of the late Wendell Lee Woodrum, who died December 7, 2004.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Dawn Durham and husband, Adlai of Harrisburg, North Carolina, Linda Carringer and husband, Perry of Hayesville, and Lora Ramsey and husband, James of Belmont, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Luke, Logan, Amanda, Ryan, Julia, and Anna Vella; and a great granddaughter, Avery.

 

A memorial service was held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Truett Memorial First Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Foster officiating. A private inurnment was held in Meadow Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family received friends from 5-5:50 Friday afternoon at the Truett Memorial First Baptist Church prior to the services.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Carol Ann Woodrum to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 3800 Maple Ave., Suite 435, Dallas, TX 75219 or ovarian.org/donate.

Linda, I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I wish I had known. I certainly would have been at the funeral. The last time I talked with her she told me she was staying in Charlotte but did not mention any serious problems. I will miss her very much.
