Jerry T. Herrington, 83, of Hayesville passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at his residence. A native of Gwinnett County, Georgia, he had lived in Clay County since 1992. Jerry worked for Southern Company for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Woods Grove Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Jessie Thomas and Lou Cindy Reese Herrington. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Odell Cain Herrington.

Surviving are his wife, Sara Jean Still Herrington; two sons, Michael Thomas Herrington and wife, Peggy of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Troy Thomas Herrington and wife, Joyce of Hayesville; three grandsons, Jason Thomas Herrington, Brian Thomas Herrington, and Daniel Thomas Herrington; a step-granddaughter, Hope Haynes; and three great grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth Herrington, Wesley Thomas Herrington, and Anna Jacobson.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Woods Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Sims and Richard Roberson officiating. The interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael, Troy, Jason, Brian, and Daniel Herrington, and Dave Guetter.

The family received friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Grove Baptist Church prior to the services.
