Mary Catherine Amos, 92, of Andrews passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in a Murphy care facility. She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. Catherine was a homemaker and a member of the Valleytown Baptist Church.

 

She was the daughter of the late Gordon Wilson Sr. and Glennie Powers Wilson and the wife of the late Clyde S. Amos Sr., who died April 10, 2002. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Holloway; and three brothers, Gordon Wilson Jr., Keith Wilson, and Carroll Wilson.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Helen Ruth Phillips and husband, Lane of Andrews, and Sandra Joyce Jenkins and husband, Kerry and Darlene Scroggs and husband, Giles, all of Marble; two sons, Clyde Amos Jr. and wife, Sharon of Hendersonville, North Carolina and David Amos and wife, Lisa of Ball Ground, Georgia; a sister, Lois Waldroup of Andrews; 12 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and six step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Valleytown Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Stiles, Rev. Eric Byrd, and John Cook officiating. The interment was in Valleytown Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Cook, Tony, Donnie Ray, and Ronnie Bradley, Mike Allison, and David Stalcup. Honorary pallbearer was Earl West.

 

The family received friends from 1-2:45 Thursday afternoon at the Valleytown Baptist Church prior to the services.
