Cora Jean Mills, 74, of Murphy passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Jean worked at O’Dell’s Restaurant and ran the Henn Drive-In Theater alongside her husband. She was a member of Little Glade Baptist Church, but attended Little Brasstown Baptist Church. Jean loved children and had babysat for many families in the area.

She was the daughter of the late Fletcher Forest and Irene Hedden Coleman and the wife of the late Charlie C. Mills, who died May 11, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Ethan Bryson; and a brother, Phil Delmar Coleman.

Surviving a daughter, Pamela Bryson and fiancé, Jimmie Mull of Murphy; a granddaughter, Jessie Nicole Bryson Freeman and husband, Michael; and five great grandchildren, Heidi Sage Bryson, Tucker Lane Freeman, Felisadey Freeman, Michael Freeman Jr., and Skyler Ann Beck.

A graveside service was held at 3:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017 in the Old Martins Creek Cemetery with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Carringer, Jeff Roberson, Tony Betz, Brian Rooker, Wiley Hedden, and Michael Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie Mull, James Hedden, and Arnold Bradshaw.

The family received friends from 1:30-2:30 Sunday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Cora Jean Mills to Ivie Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
