Kenny Jane Davis Palmer, 67, of Murphy passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 in a Marietta, Georgia hospice facility. She was a native of Cherokee County, but had lived in Asheville and Boone before returning to Murphy in 2005. Kenny Jane had worked extensively with the Girl Scouts throughout the state. She had also worked for the Cherokee County Board of Education. She was a member of the Murphy First United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was well-known for her adventurous spirit, her worldwide travels, her positive outlook, and her fighting spirit. Kenny Jane cherished every minute spent with her children; grandchildren; brother, Samuel; and dear friends.
She was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Carrie Davis and the wife of the late Thomas Palmer, who died December 5, 1986.
Surviving are two daughters, Samantha Wilson and husband, COL Dwayne Wilson of Canton, Georgia, and Dr. Amanda Hartness and husband, Jason of Pittsboro, North Carolina; a brother, Samuel D. Davis and wife, Joanne of Murphy; and five grandchildren, Nathanael, Hannah, Noah, and Sarah Grace Wilson, and Riley Crisp.
A memorial service was held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 23 in the Murphy First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Rob Rollins and Caldwell Day officiating. Inurnment will be held in Sunset Cemetery at a later date. Honorary pallbearers were Nate Wilson, Noah Wilson, Wayne Wells, Barry McClure, Dr. Gerald Blossom, and John Snow Jr.
The family received friends from 1:00-2:45 Sunday afternoon at the Murphy First United Methodist Church prior to the services.
