
George William Paiva, 67, of Murphy died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of New Bedford, MA, but had moved to Merrimack, NH and drove tractor trailers for the Coca-Cola Company until he retired in 1998. George moved to the Murphy area in 1999. He served in the United States Army Reserves for eight years. George loved music and playing the drums with several groups and Matt Perry’s Orchestra. He was a member of the Teamster Union Local #633. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by both parents, William P. and Mary C. Aruda Paiva; and a brother, Russell Paiva.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa Paiva; two sons, Gerard Scott Paiva of Murphy and George William Paiva Jr. and wife, Kimberly of Provo, UT; a sister, Mary Ann Xiarhos of Fairhaven, MA; and three grandchildren, Cody, Courtney, and Chris Paiva.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 3 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Pastor Alan Becker officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Gerard Paiva, George Paiva Jr., C.W. Cavender, David Peters, Roy Bamfield, and Ron Draper.
The family received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
