Donald R. Stecher, 75, of Murphy died Monday, June 6, 2005 in a Murphy care facility. A native of Buffalo, NY, he had lived in Sarasota, FL for 13 years before moving to Murphy in 1974. He was the son of the late Edward Albert and Cecelia Bull Stecher and the husband of the late Gisela Holzwart Stecher. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was owner and operator of Stecher Paint Shop in Sarasota.

Surviving are a daughter, Eva Garrett and husband, Jerry of McCaysville, GA; a son, Kevin Stecher and fiance, Monica Marcott of Murphy; a daughter-in-law, Janice Stecher of Murphy; and three grandchildren, Andrea, Justin, and Heidi Stecher.

No services were planned.
