Hubert V. Flowers, 84, of Hayesville went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2005 in an Atlanta, GA hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Robert Henry and Emmaline Welch Flowers. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Air Force where he retired as a Master Sergeant with over 20 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Legis Chapter D.A.V. 28 of Blue Ridge, GA. Hubert attended the Hayesville Church of the Nazarene and was a humble servant of the Lord.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Geneva Ledford Flowers; two daughters, Linda Herreid and husband, Glenn of Canton, GA and Pam Barker and husband, Dan of Rising Fawn, GA; a son, Jerry Flowers and wife, Ruth of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Anthony and Kenneth Flowers, and Christina Fiscus; two step-grandchildren, Heather Lawless and Jeff Duggan; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 18 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with the Rev. Terry Hensley officiating. Burial was in the Ledford's Chapel Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 96, D.A.V. Chapter 73, V.F.W. Post 10222, and the Hayesville V.F.W. Post 6812 (Allison-Bristol). Pallbearers were Anthony and Kenneth Flowers, John Fiscus, Glenn Herreid, Dan Barker, and Lloyd Garrett.
The family received friends from 12:00-1:45 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
