Jewell L. Forrister, 84, of Murphy died Thursday, September 1, 2005 in a Murphy medical center. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Garland Ledford. She was a homemaker and was an active member of the Harris Chapel Church of God.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Willard “Bill” Forrister; a daughter, Ann Wilson and husband, Ed of Marietta, GA; two sons, Gene Forrister of Murphy and Morris Forrister and wife, Carolyn of Westcliff, CO; a sister, Ruby Harris of Murphy; five grandchildren, Matthew and Andrew Wilson, Karin Cutcliff, Stephanie Hardee, and Darryl Forrister; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 5 in the Harris Chapel Church of God with the Rev. Jim Hall and Leroy Easler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Darryl, Leon, and Jason Forrister, Joel Harris, and David and Vaughn Gibson. Honorary pallbearers were Matthew and Andrew Wilson.

The family received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in loving memory of Jewell L. Forrister to the American Red Cross, Hurricane Katrina Relief, PO Box 37243, Washington DC 20013.
