Virginia Blankenship, 78, of Hayesville died Sunday, May 16, 2004 in a Towns County, GA hospital. A native of Haverhill, MA, she had lived in Clay County since 1974 after moving here from Brooklyn, NY. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice Spurr Doyle and the wife of the late James A. Blankenship, who died Dec. 27, 1992. She was a retired CNA with Midland Insurance Company. She was a member of the Chatuge Hills Assembly of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Anne Didio and husband, Rick of Hayesville; two sons, Charles J. Robinson of Rocky Point, NY and William T. Robinson and wife, Mary Ellen of Long Island, NY; four step-daughters, Mary Hedden and husband, Larry and Sue Cunningham all of Hiawassee, GA and Joyce Sosebee and husband, Rick and Linda Garrett and husband, Mike all of Hayesville; two step-sons, Andrew Blankenship and wife, Diane and Kenny Blankenship and wife, Vergie all of Hayesville; three sisters, Muriel Blankenship, Veta Ledford, and Ann Clampitt all of Hayesville; a brother, Maurice Doyle of Reno, NV; and five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 19 in the Chatuge Hills Assembly of God with the Rev. Aline Mosteller officiating. Burial was in the Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jess Clampitt Jr., L.C. Ledford, Roy Mosteller, and Charles, Andy, and Howard Blankenship.
The family received friends from 12:30-1:45 Wednesday afternoon at the Chatuge Hills Assembly of God prior to the services.
