Evelyn Hagler, 77, of Hayesville, North Carolina, formerly of Brandon, Florida, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018. She was a native of Brandon, Florida, but lived in Hayesville for the past seven years. With God’s help, Evelyn overcame life’s challenges and in turn, gave guidance and counsel to countless others throughout her life. Evelyn was a naturally gifted artist, who enjoyed plastic canvas art. She also enjoyed baking cakes for her friends and family.
She was the daughter of the late Gilbert Duncan and Lucille Amerson Hudson and the wife of the late Ernest Gay Hagler, who died July 8, 1977. She was also preceded in death by a son, Daryll Gay Hagler; and a sister, Dovie Eiland.
Surviving are two daughters, Crystal West of Lithia, Florida and Angela Brunelle and husband, Tim of Timberlake, North Carolina; a son, Gregg Hagler and wife, Jennifer of Hayesville; a sister, Kathleen Tyson of Bartow, Florida; eight grandchildren, Candi Weintraub, Michael Hagler, Ryan Hagler, Rachael Welch, Beca Worden, Vicki Pope, Seth Jennings, Noah Brunelle, and Joshua Brunelle; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Zach.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Gandy Cemetery, Bartow, Florida.
The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20th at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home in Bartow, Florida.
