Shirley Brown, 88, of Murphy died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at her residence. She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. She was the daughter of the late Mack and Samantha Cross Darlin and the wife of the late Jack Brown, who died in 1963. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bell Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Lilly Lou McClure, Mary Stiles and husband, Hayden, and Margaret Stiles and husband, Roger all of Murphy, and Martha Brown of the home; three sons, Tommy Brown and wife, Lucille, Goldman Brown and wife, Sue, and Lewis Brown and wife, Yvonne all of Murphy; two sisters, Myrtle Maney and Corinne Trantham both of Cleveland, TN; and 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Funeral serivces were held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 18 in the Sunny Point Baptist Church with the Revs. Parker Burgess and Charlie Stalcup officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers were Rickey Brown, Ralph Robinson, Kevin Rogers, Chris Mintz, and Scotty and Junior Stiles.

The family received friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
