Otellia Passmore Mathis, 82, of Andrews passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in a Murphy hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She made many lasting friendships and was a devoted mother. Otellia worked at Berkshire and the Lee Company. She worked most of her life as a production worker, inspector, and quality manager. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and spending time with her family. She was a member of Junaluska Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Julia Passmore and the wife of the late Buddy Mathis. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carroll Mathis; four sisters, Katie Parker, Jane Taylor, and twins, Mary Ann and Martha Jane Passmore; and a brother, Leon Passmore.
Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Lackey and husband, Billy, and Shannin West and husband, Scott, all of Andrews; a son, Duane Mathis of Andrews; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Mathis Plott; two sisters, Roberta Hicks of Clayton, Georgia, and Ruth Coker and husband, Horace of Andrews; a brother, Lawson Passmore and wife, Evelyn of Winder, Georgia; six grandchildren, Eddie Mathis, Misty Powers, Dale Lackey, Heather Long, Jill White, and Erin West; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews with the Rev. Dana Dockery officiating. Family graveside was held Friday, January 29, 2016. Pallbearers were Eddie and Jordon Mathis, Dale Lackey, Tyler and Paul Long, and Colby White. Honorary pallbearers were beloved nephews.
The family received friends from 5-6:45 Thursday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews prior to the services.

Now she has a wonderful garden to be in. She will be missed. I love you sweet lady.
