Melissa Brendle, 84, of Murphy died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 in a Murphy medical center. She was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. She had worked for Murphy Textile, Levi, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bates Creek Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Jefferson and Melvina Mashburn Crain and the wife of the late Herman Adam Brendle. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steve H. Brendle.

Surviving are a granddaughter, Amanda Brendle McNabb of Murphy; and four great grandchildren, Brianna McNabb, and Steven, Sierra, and Jacob Brendle.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM Monday, Nov. 9 in the Bates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Harold Stiles officiating. Pallbearers were David and Clayton Cornwell, Steven Seabolt, Brian Davis, Paul Dockery, and Dwight Lovingood.

The family received friends from 12:00-1:30 Monday afternoon at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.
